Swear Like No One’s Watching
We tend to imagine beautiful landscapes, vibrant modern cities, and a few oversized spiders when we think of Australia. But it turns out that while Australians are very welcoming, they also have the nasty habit of swearing constantly! Most of the time, for no reason at all.
Swearing down under is so common that it’s been almost incorporated into the everyday local dialect. The F word is particularly omnipresent. Many Aussies use it as a substitute for ‘the,’ ‘my,’ and even ‘great.’ While there’s no one explanation for this phenomenon, some believe it’s rooted in Australia’s past as a convict nation.
