Aussie-Style Batman

Can you imagine crossing the street only to witness this macabre scene? In Australia, you don’t need to, as the presence of enormous bats known as megabats is pretty much a reality. Australia’s answer to Batman, the grey-headed flying fox, is the largest of all of these megabats and can weigh as much as 2.2 pounds.

The grey-headed flying fox can reach over three feet in length when he opens his wings! Sadly, this majestic creature is considered to be endangered and is listed as “vulnerable” in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
