Strangers Are Welcome!
You know you live in a low-crime country when leaving the door unlocked is so common! While most people residing outside Australia wouldn’t dare to leave the house without locking the door, Aussies are surprisingly casual about the safety of their homes.
A report from 2018 determined that one in eight Australians fail to lock their doors, while a whopping 80% seldom lock their garages. While unlocked doors are presumably more common in rural areas than big cities such as Melbourne and Sydney, this still goes to show that Australia’s the kind of place where you can always trust your neighbors.
