Dean Winters – The Allstate Guy

Allstate chose Dean Winters to star in their commercials as Mayhem. he was created by Leo Burnett Worldwide, based on Mr.White (Harvey Keitel) from Reservoir Dogs. Mayhem sports a characteristic appearance, wearing a black suit, his face scarred, bleeding, and hurt. The script for every Mayhem commercial is the same; an impending disaster is described, and it happens.

Mayhem then compares the scenario to their companies’ insurance policies and encourages viewers to buy from Allstate. Mayhem was created to attract a young customer base. Burnett created the character to rival the eager Flo of State Farm. They were successful, winning 80 awards for the campaign.
