For 35 years, cheerleading at the college level had the highest rate of catastrophic injuries for female athletes, making up 70.5% of all such cases. Other sports with a high rate of severe injuries for women include gymnastics, track, field hockey, and lacrosse. As such, we’re pretty surprised that many students still wish to be successful cheerleaders.
