According to estimates from the Consumer Product Safety Commission, around 30,000 cheerleaders are treated in emergency rooms annually. The average age of those treated is 14.5. Unfortunately, some of these young athletes never fully recover from their injuries. Since the mid-’80s, the rate of ER visits from cheerleaders has tripled due to the increased complexity and difficulty of the stunts they attempt.
