Rand and Kelley Paul – Together Since 1990

In 1988, at a backyard oyster roast in Atlanta, Kelley Ashby met Rand Paul, who was completing a surgical rotation while studying at Duke University. Initially mistaking him for a teenager, Kelley was surprised to learn he was a 26-year-old doctor. Their connection was immediate, and they married on October 20, 1990. The couple has three sons: William, Duncan, and Robert.

Kelley, a freelance writer and political consultant, has been instrumental in Rand’s political endeavors. She authored “True and Constant Friends,” highlighting the importance of deep, enduring friendships. Rand, a U.S. Senator from Kentucky since 2011, is known for his libertarian views and advocacy for constitutional rights.
