Bernie and Jane Sanders – Together Since 1988

Politics, passion, and a shared vision—Bernie and Jane Sanders’ relationship has it all. The couple met in 1981 at a mayoral debate in Burlington, Vermont, where she was immediately drawn to his progressive ideals. They clicked instantly, and by 1988, they were married.

Not only do they have a blended family with three of Jane’s children and Bernie’s son, but they’ve also taken on the role of foster parents to 13 kids. Bernie, a U.S. Senator, is well-known for his fight for universal healthcare, affordable education, and economic equality. Meanwhile, Jane has supported him every step of the way, even launching The Sanders Institute to champion progressive solutions.
