Joe and Gayle Manchin – Together Since 1967

Joe and Gayle Manchin’s journey began in 1965 at West Virginia University, where they met and quickly became inseparable. They married in 1967, and they have three children: Heather, Joseph IV, and Brooke. Their family has grown to include ten grandchildren, reflecting the depth of their family bonds.​

Joe, a former governor and U.S. Senator from West Virginia, has been a pivotal figure in American politics. Gayle, on the other hand, has had a distinguished career in education and public service. She served as the First Lady of West Virginia from 2005 to 2010 and later as the state’s Secretary of Education and the Arts.
