While there are a lot of perks to using dating apps, there are tons of disadvantages, too. Unfortunately, stolen identities are quite common in the online world and it would be difficult to know if someone is really who they claim to be.

Studies have shown that negative experiences with an online search for a romantic partner do occur. This includes being harassed into doing something when meeting in person and mis- or over-representing one’s self on their profiles, creating confusion upon meet-up.
