Iman Abdulmajid, fashion model and widow of the late English rock musician David Bowie, was born in Somalia. She spent the early years of her life with her grandparents and most of her childhood and adolescence in a boarding school in Egypt. After being discovered by an American photographer, Iman moved to the United States to begin her modeling career.

Widely praised for her striking looks, this fashion queen quickly became a muse for numerous designers and posed for some of the most prestigious magazines in the world. After reigning in the industry for decades, Iman continues to be a generous and active philanthropist even to this day.
