Queen Latifah
Dana Elaine Owens, more popularly known as Queen Latifah, was born in New Jersey to a police officer dad and a teaching mom. She began her music career beatboxing for the hip-hop group Ladies Fresh. Queen was also an original member of an emcees and DJs crew from New York called Flavor Unit.
After becoming a trailblazing pioneer in female rap, Queen dove headfirst into acting with fabulous success. She appeared in numerous supporting parts before landing starring roles in sitcoms and films, eventually even hosting The Queen Latifah Show on daytime TV.
