The Special State Bird

There is always one lucky bird that is recognized in every state in America, and for the Aloha State, it’s the Nene goose. This decision came in 1957 and this bird chosen is unique in the sense that the species cannot be found anywhere else all over America and in the world, making it even the rarest goose on the planet.

It has many similar features to the Canada goose and it is believed to be a descendant of it that evolved in Hawaii. However, they are also on the federal list of endangered species and programs have been put in place to increase their numbers.
