Nods To Hawaii In Lilo and Stitch
Looking back now, the 2001 Disney film “Lilo and Stitch” had several scenes that displayed anecdotes of Hawaiian culture. It was after a trip to Kauai island that the concept of “Ohana” was introduced but it’s surprising that they actually planned to do the filming somewhere else.
However, this piece of art is not located in Hawaii. It was a part of the Lilo and Stitch unit in Hong Kong’s Disneyland during the celebration of their fifth anniversary in 2011. The movie can be referenced for some Hawaiian slang because the natives who voiced David and Nani made sure to include them.
