Planning A Vacation In Hawaii? Here’s Everything To Love About The Aloha State

Native Hawaiian Mammals

Considering that Hawaii is surrounded largely by water, there are only a few species of mammals that you can expect to see there. Many people haven’t really thought about it, but it’s something animal lovers aren’t generally thrilled about. Even more so because the Hawaiian environment would have been amazing for many animals to live in.

Nonetheless, some mammals made it into the island, but only two species can claim to be natives—the hoary bat and the monk seal. Interestingly, these two mammals are among those listed on the federal endangered taxon list.
