Charles Lawson – Jim McDonald from Coronation Street

Between 1989 and 2018, the British actor Charles Lawson was busy portraying Jim McDonald, arguably one of the unluckiest characters in Coronation Street history. A no-nonsense kind of fellow, McDonald was often involved in crimes and forced to spend time in jail.

While Lawson suffered a minor on-stage stroke in 2018, there’s no evidence showing his departure from Coronation Street was linked to health reasons. In fact, Lawson is already planning his return to the screen, as he’s set to appear in the upcoming short Tell-Tale W*nk. A Northern Ireland native, Lawson has one daughter and resides in Belfast with his partner Debbie Stanley.
