Their Love of Horses

Horses are an essential part of Russian culture, their love for these animals can be seen in their unique take on water skiing. While the rest of the world uses boats to pull skiers at high speeds during the summer, here it’s done differently. They rely on horsepower, but not the kind you find in an engine – instead, they use the actual animal.

The country is home to some of the last remaining Przewalski horses, also known as the Mongolian wild horse. Sadly, these rare creatures are endangered, with less than 2,000 remaining in captivity or the wild worldwide, according to the Morris Animal Foundation.
