Helen Shapiro – Age 74

Sixty years have passed since the British singer/actress Helen Shapiro recorded her chart-topper “You Don’t Know.” She was just 14 at the time, but she connected with listeners all over the UK. She tried her luck as an actress later and has most notably appeared in the 1986 TV series Albion Market.

Still active at the age of 74, Shapiro never stopped performing live, except for a 2002 hiatus. In 2021, Far Out magazine published an article about “From Me To You,” the song that confirmed the popularity of The Beatles in the early ’60s. Reportedly, the iconic tune was initially composed for Shapiro.
