The mother in the right-hand photo appears to be having the time of her life as she posed with the men at a military ball in 1998. She decided to pose in a “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend”-style tribute to her idol, Marilyn Monroe. But her daughter thought differently.

She made some adjustments to the pink confection to make it more contemporary and yet appear gorgeous. She removed the straps, threw out the flowers, and put a pearl necklace in their place. And the final look? Beautiful. We also appreciate that her date matched her color scheme. How gentlemanly!
