Pleading For The Environment
What you see here are the towering sculptures that made up the “Crude Awakening” installation. These figures appear to be reaching or dancing towards the sky, with flames emanating from parts of their bodies. The sculptures were controversial due to their consumption of a vast amount of fossil fuels when ignited, leading to dissatisfaction among some festival-goers.
Responding to the concerns, the organizers implemented a solution: the introduction of solar panels. These solar panels, each with a 50-watt capacity, became a permanent fixture, harnessing the abundant desert sunlight. This eco-friendly initiative not only powers the festival but also reduces its carbon footprint in an environment dominated by the relentless sun.
