A Temple That Never Was…
This towering structure stood as the centerpiece of Black Rock City during the 2018 Burning Man festival. Captured from above, this aerial view showcases the intricate design of Temple Galaxia by artist Arthur Mamou-Mani. The temple, made of interconnected wooden beams, spirals upward, forming a mesmerizing pattern. Its design resembles a starburst or a galaxy, echoing the vastness of the universe.
Surrounding the temple, tiny figures of festival-goers, vehicles, and bikes give a sense of its grand scale. Dust clouds whirl around the area, hinting at the desert’s dynamic atmosphere. It must have been a very emotional climax when it was set aflame, marking a ritual of release and renewal.
