The ’80s styles were more ornate and flashy, but in the ’90s, minimalism made a comeback. One of the most obvious examples of this is the fitted, spaghetti strap dress, which has remained popular throughout the decade. The ’80s frills were replaced with minimalistic ease, with spaghetti straps holding up silk skirts.

This matching ensemble is a lovely example. Both mother and daughter wore it, but they did it 18 years apart. It would be an understatement to suggest that they are carbon copies of one another. While the mother’s muted hue may have been trendy at the time, the daughter opted for a more striking color.
