Meet The Flawless Superstars of the British Soap Opera World

Stephen McGann – Sean Reynolds from Emmerdale

Stephen McGann isn’t your typical British soap opera star. While he portrayed Emmerdale’s Sean Reynolds for almost 90 episodes, he moved on to a new exciting role since departing the series in 2002: he became Dr. Patrick Turner in the BBC One period drama Call the Midwife, written by his wife, Heidi Thomas.

Besides being a popular theatre and screen actor, McGann is also a science communicator. He has discussed the medical accuracy of Call the Midwife as a guest speaker at the Cambridge Science Festival. McGann’s brothers Joe, Paul, and Mark also work in show business.
