From Justin Bieber to Michael Cera, These Canadian Superstars Have Made a Name for Themselves Globally

 Chad Kroeger

The grunge and rock band Nickelback was formed in 1995 and has toured ever since. The band was formed by guitarist and singer Chad Kroeger, along with a few other people he played with in Hanna, Alberta. Kroeger was also married to fellow Canadian punk musician Avril Lavigne for two years in the 2010s.

After selling over 50 million copies, Nickelback’s commercial success was unmistakable in Canada. On an individual level, Kroeger has written songs for films, among which the single “Hero” for the 2002 Marvel film “Spiderman” received a SOCAN International Achievement Award. Besides that, he’s also written and performed several singles in collaboration with other artists.
