A pleasantly surprising addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in this decade was Ryan Reynolds, who was given the character of the comedic superhero Deadpool. So far, his character has had two dedicated films. The first even won him a Saturn Award for Best Actor.

But all that was pretty late down his career. Reynolds had quite a long-struggling period before and after he had moved to the United States from Vancouver, British Columbia. Post his child-acting for Nickelodeon, he received supporting and cameo roles in films and TV series, but nothing significant came through until his portrayal of Deadpool in 2015.
