The Cringy Joaquin Phoenix from “I’m Still Alive”

There might not be many people that are able to make David Letterman uncomfortable; however, Joaquin Phoenix sort of made that happen when he appeared for an interview, all dressed up and in character, to promote his new film “I’m Still Here.” The fans and audience could feel the cringe very soon into the show.

Aired sometime before the release of the movie, around 2010, Phoenix kept a silent persona, giving Letterman just short replies to all his questions. While the popular host was a bit troubled at first, soon enough, the audience went dead silent as well, with only uncomfortable laughter every now and then.
