Spreading The Love
Red and white outfit, angel wings, and heart-shaped antennae? That must be Cupid and it must be Valentine’s day. Of course, no cupid is complete without a couple of heart-shaped love arrows. The only irony is that cupid has nothing to do with Valentine’s Day. The little guy has more to do with Roman mythology.
While he is the son of Venus, the goddess of love, and Mars, the god of war in the Roman Pantheon, Valentine’s Day is linked to a martyred priest who was imprisoned for an affair with his jailer’s daughter. The day and the deity are only linked because both are related to love.
