The Judge’s Private Request

Ana and Owen were taken aback when the judge called for a break, but they didn’t think much of it. What surprised them was her subsequent request. The judge wanted Olive to join her in her office during recess. The Quinns exchanged uneasy glances, clearly unhappy with the idea. Olive, too, was confused.

She had assumed she’d spend the break with her foster parents before returning to court. The judge’s private invitation felt strange, and she couldn’t help but feel nervous. Ana, however, was more than upset—she was visibly irritated. The thought of the judge speaking to Olive without them being present left her on edge.
