Journalism Fails: Some Instances Where TV Anchors Made The Headlines For More Than Their Work

Johnny Carson’s Retirement With a Standing Ovation

Johnny Carson was an amazing host for “The Tonight Show,” as he made his audience laugh like no other. When he was about to retire from NBC, he appeared on David Letterman’s show to confirm the rumors of his term ending with the TV channel.

As legendary as he was, Carson just made an appearance and hardly said anything but got the most heartwarming standing ovation combined with constant applause from Letterman’s audience. He hosted the talk show for almost three decades until 1992. Nonetheless, Carson continued to make a cameo now and then. One of those included a voice-over in an episode of “Simpsons.”
