Where Mermaids Are Friendly
The Submarine Voyage was an iconic Disneyland attraction that featured vehicles resembling submarines. As guests rode the submarine, taped narrations were played to create an illusion, and there were captains as they sailed onto a sea adventure.
One of its remarkable features was the mermaids who hung out in the lagoon, waved their hands, and swam if needed. Due to this, staff hired as mermaids were strong swimmers and underwent training. The Submarine Voyage closed in 1998, but the lagoon was left to serve as scenery. Thanks to photos like this, we get s a glimpse of what was once a majestic sea ride.
