Sandie Shaw – Age 74

It’s impossible to dissociate the beautiful English singer Sandie Shaw from her 1967 Eurovision Song Contest victory. With the song “Puppet on a String,” Shaw became the first British performer to win the music competition. In total, she had three number-one singles in the UK.

In 2013, Shaw announced her retirement from the music industry. Four years later, she was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire. In 2021, “Puppet on a String” has been re-released as part of a triple-disc compilation set titled Now That’s What I Call Eurovision.
