Oh, The Irony
You’d think a 24-Hour Fitness facility would encourage healthier living by requiring its patrons to climb stairs. When the facility’s owners erected these two escalators, they probably had their patrons in mind. But we can’t help but think that it defeats the objective. After an hour of training, we can see how they may be helpful, but no one is utilizing them in that way.
On the other hand, the only two occupants of the escalator are on their way to enter the building rather than leave it. It’s one of the best cases of architectural irony ever. No one seems sure if the structure is a purpose-built facility, though.
