The COVID-19 pandemic has taught us all a lot of lessons. Acknowledging the love of our loved ones and facing the loneliness (of unending lockdowns) are the foremost ones. But if we have a closer look at it, it turns out that the pandemic impacts all athletes in a massive way, and pickleball athletes are no exception.
Following the pandemic, pickleball professionals were seen expressing their love in an unprecedented way. Some of them proposed to their loved ones in pickleball court and tied the knot. Prior to the pandemic, it was pretty rare to see pickleball athletes getting married on the pickleball court but now, it seems like these athletes are also living the new normal.
However, it is essential to note here that pickleball was not a popular game before the pandemic. A few sports enthusiasts knew that a tennis-like game called pickleball exists but now, things have changed. Pickleball is gaining popularity, and professionals are trying different ways to promote the “gentlemen’s game.”
Call it a promotion of pickleball or an expression of love, pickleball professionals are expressing their love on the field. The field where they play pickleball. Not only do these couples propose to each other, but they also tie the knot. Nonetheless, what makes it more interesting is that these couples play matches as duos. Meaning they play pickleball as a team. And one day, they hit the field, not for a contest but to live their entire life together. They come forward in ‘casual’ dress without anyone noticing that they will get married. To the surprise of the pickleball fans, they kneel down and present the ring. The ring that will glue them together for the rest of their life. All of these shenanigans are happening on the pickleball court!
One such incident that occurred recently is the most classic one. Let’s look at the young pickleball couples who celebrated their big on the pickle court.

Charles Wood and Julene
Recently, two pickleball athletes hit the field and tied the knot on the court: Julene, who is 49 years old, and Woods, who is 45. The couple was seen in their normal dress when they appeared on the field. Mr. Woods was wearing a black polo shirt while his significant other was seen in a white t-shirt. These are the dress-ups that pickleball players normally wear. Looking at them and their dress-up, you can not expect that they will celebrate the big day of their life a few moments later.
Thus, the couple appeared on the field. Mr. Woods kneeled down and proposed to Julene. She looked at the ring with tears in her eyes, and the couple shared a gentle kiss.
Following the proposal, sugar cookies were distributed among the spectators. While the couple – Mr. Woods and Julene – celebrated their Big Day on the field, pickleball fans cheered them up. They had what they called “a surprise party,” and the fans also enjoyed the game later that day.
