While in most parts of the world, the COVID-19 pandemic is seemingly over, countries across the globe are still taking precautionary measures to cope with the pandemic. These governments do not believe that the pandemic is over. Instead, they foresee that another wave will likely hit, which will be more disastrous than the previous waves. To cope with this anticipated wave of COVID, the U.K government is trying to come up with COVID shots for infants and babies. The decision comes after the Canadian government approves COVID vaccination for the youngest age group.
“Long-time coming,” say top health specialists in the United Kingdom. Health officials urge the local government to kick off the rollout of COVID vaccines throughout the country. However, confirmation from the ministry f health is yet to come. But top doctors across the United Kingdom fear the spread of COVID-19 among toddlers and infants. So, as a safety measure, they are urging the government to develop vaccines for the young generation.
While most districts in the U.K are all set to receive the Moderna dozes to prevent the spread of coronavirus among kids, they are also considering basic healthcare facilities. For example, the Western Fair District of London is waiting for the rollout of Moderna doses for kids and preparing and equipping the center for kids’ vaccination.
According to the 2016 census, as many as 26,000 infants in the broader London area are below the age of four. These kids are not vaccinated against COVID; thus, health professionals recommend that these kids be vaccinated with the dozes of Moderna. Nevertheless, Pfizer was approved by the local government to vaccinate the age group between 6 and 11. This latest announcement, however, confirms that no infant and toddler is left without vaccination.
However, doctors suggest they have already signed the vaccination bill for kids. And they are well-equipped to take on the Moderna doze rollout.
It is essential to note that another wave of COVID is emerging in different parts of the world. With the United States confirming at least 10 COVID cases daily, the pandemic is not yet over. Thus, it is alarming for many governments across the world. This makes the United Kingdom no exception.
To cope with this, health officials are urging the health ministry to officially roll out the Moderna doses for infants below the age of four. Once approved, the officials are ready to take on the rollout immediately. According to the latest data, infants below the age of four have either taken the first dose or not been vaccinated. Once the Moderna doses are rolled out, this will be a major breakthrough in the country’s health ministry. Consequently, as many as 26,000 infants (below the age of four) will benefit from the rollout.
