Ebony Brown’s career is a classic tale of rags to riches with a contemporary twist. In just a span of 12 years, the stylist became a self-proclaimed fashion activist and achieved what some of us can only dream about.
Besides her fashion career success, she has also written songs for R&B legends, styled A-listed celebrities, and has been featured at a wearable art gala hosted by the one and only MrsTina Knowles Lawson. Despite all these milestones perhaps one of the most impressive things Ebony has done and continues to do so has been to pave way for her fellow black creatives and artists and help them thrive in an industry that has been dominated by white men since its establishment.
Celebrity milestones
Ebony got her first taste of entrepreneurship as a teenager. Born and raised in a rough area of Detroit, Ebony and her mother often faced periods of financial uncertainty during her childhood.
Ebony got her start in music despite having no previous connections in the industry. She wrote and published songs for iconic musicians like Faith Evans before becoming a successful celebrity stylist.
Her switch into the fashion world took some convincing; record executives often asked Ebony to style their clients after admiring her personal style. After a few years of turning down, offers Ebony decided that a career in styling might be a blessing and finally said yes. Since then she’s styled high-profile celebrities like Halsey, Camila Cabello, Britney Spears, Nicole Scherzinger, and Kanye West.
Big names in the fashion industry have even featured Ebony Brown as a stylist for a wearable art gala and have paid tribute to her designs. She has worked with top-ranking brands and personalities that reflect her success.
Talking about the rewards of entrepreneurship, she said that she loves her work and does it with dedication. Contributing to others’ success is the reward of entrepreneurship. She has a desire to be known as a helping hand for others. She believes that the celebrity world is great but not real life for the majority of the people. She wants to create opportunities for black creatives to show their talent.
Trends for springs
In a recent interview, Ebony Shared her perspective on the most trendy items for 2022’s spring. According to her Y2k fashion is increasingly being brought back and could be welcomed with baby t-shirts paired with wide-leg pants or slacks.
The little strip of leather between the shirt and the top of the pants is very simple but something that adds an attractive touch to an outfit without showing too much skin. Denim is something very classic and always in style and a perfect pair of boyfriend jeans or cutout denim is a fashion statement and a must-have in every individual’s wardrobe.
She also shared her input on colors, specifically lime green which has been the Number One color this season. Beyoncé was at the Oscars in instant lime green, so that’s a stamp of approval. Muted greens, different shades of yellow, these colors just scream spring and will be fun to play with.
