The current Kanye West saga has taken yet another shift. This time, however, it is not the rapper who has been accused. Instead, it is he who is the victim here—on November 3, 2022, the musician sat with host David Letterman for an interview.
Throughout the interview, Kanye West talked candidly about anything and everything in response to Letterman’s questions, which were, of course, asked in typical, classic David Letterman style. However, the most fascinating and shocking part of the interview was when the “Donda” artist accused Rihanna of domestic violence.
During the interview, the popular rapper tells David Letterman that Chris Brown is “a decent human being.” By the time when he was in relation with Rihanna, she was abusive through and through. He asserts that Rihanna “assaulted” Kanye West on many occasions. For the last time, it was back in 2019, the rapper recalls.
Furthermore, Kanye West made her stance clear by saying that “some baseless accusations” have ruined the career of Chris Brown. On the flip side, everyone is sidelining Rihanna. This should be the concern of everyone. The rapper makes it pristinely clear that just because you are a woman does not mean that you will get abused every time. Instead, men are equally disturbed by it. In fact, men are 5x more victims of character assassination.
Kanye West talked about today’s “outlandish” Me Too (the popular MeToo Hashtag) movement. In his opinion, more often than not, women accuse men of character assassinations, and every time he hears these stories, they seem gibberish to him.
Essentially, the point Kanye was trying to make was simple: Just because you are a woman does not mean that you will be taken benefit of. Men are also equally troubled by this. Sadly, society is not in a position to accept that. And that makes Kanye West worried.
Throughout the interview, he makes it pristinely clear that simply being a man does not negate the fact that you are subjected to abuses. Be it domestic or otherwise.
However, it goes without saying that these kinds of statements are unbecoming of celebrity stars like Kanye West. The public and fans do not expect to hear such “extreme” views from Kanye West. This is what he indicated during the interview. I know there will be a massive backlash following these statements, the rapper told Dave Letterman. But he made it clear, once again, that he is okay with that. Because he is telling the truth, he is not worried about what the public has to say.
If you look at what Kanye is saying without being biased, you will figure out that he is telling the truth. Today, there is this trend called “The Me Too Movement.” And its all about women. This, in turn, gives birth to inequality and injustice. The recent Johnny Depp is yet another example. And what Kanye is saying is nothing more or less than a harsh reality of our time.
